Budd Bay Realty
It might have been 1990 when Jeff drove over from Olympia to have me design his logo. I went by his office last week and he hasn't changed it in all these years. Think I'll call him and say hi. Logo was done really large then I shot it down in order to make it super sharp for advertising. The art is completely hand drawn.
Lavender Blue
This is a photo of a photo and I hope to get a better version from Nancy someday. Nancy drew (pun intended!) the fairie and the rest of the design for her new business. As I remember she had a colored pencil rendering, I hand painted it as a sign and gave it the effects she wanted and it turned out really cool. Sign paint and airbrush. The fairie is a cut-out and mounted on top of the sign.
Bar Cinco
A lady from Olympia decided to open a business in Yelm and asked about other signs around the area and learned about me. We met and she gave the job to me. This is the result of her ideas. All hand painted. This is a photo of a photo so the quality went downhill.
Ronda's
Ronda had worked out how to open a new drive thru at a great location and since I'm her buddy I did the sign! All hand lettered with a bit of airbrush in the backround.
Above is the sign at her first location. She likes those heavy old ceramic coffee mugs and this was the design she gave the go ahead on. Hand painted, airbrush.
P.S. "Drive thru attitude adjustments" was my idea and she liked it so we used it at both locations.

Yelm Acupuncture
Fran asked me to paint her a sign when she decided to open this clinic. Hand painted, airbrush, pin striping brush.

South Pacific
I was in the middle of helping a friend get ready for a huge party for a 100 people and while we were drinking beer he asked if we needed a sign to show to our friends they had arrived. Hand painted.
Elbe
I was approached by a husband and wife that wanted me to make a gift for friends that had just bought the Elbe General Store. This is the info on the sign they gave me. It's still there today, 20 years after I painted it.
Coyote
I sketched this for fun and found a buyer to turn it into a sign. I don't have a photo of the sign though.
Kirk's
Back in the early 90's Kirk asked me to decorate his new van for his new business. I love the way the cyclists turned out. Airbrush and hand lettered. I did a splatter effect of the letters and with airbrush it looked like it was under glass.
Michael's Pizza
My friend Michael wanted a pizza that was sort of flying and he chose the sketch this sign was made from. Lots of airbrush on top of hand painted.
Rainier Espresso
This was a really fun sign to do. It's been in the same place for at least 15 years. Hand painted of course!
Billboard
I hand painted billboards all over Wisconsin for several years and this is a shot of a board in progress. I did not design any billboards but painted according to the art given to me by the billboard company. Sometimes I would paint 2 per week and they could be located several driving hours apart. In the summer I would camp overnight with my tent and in the winter I would get a room in a motel. Each board could take 3-4 days to complete.
Miniature Herefords
Several years ago a family tried their hand at raising miniature cattle and this is the design they choose. All hand painted with faux bevel letters for Lantz.
Gold Bar Esspresso
This sign is from back in 1994. I was working for a sign company in Olympia and the shop owner wanted to do this in vinyl and run the art through his computer. As I look back today, the owner didn't know how to take a line drawing from me and turn it into a vector. I cut all the vinyl by hand and installed the 4'x8' sign faces back into the cabinet.
Art Bell
In the mid 1990's I read Art Bells book and got inspired to create a bumper sticker for the show. I got approval to sell from the radio program manager but didn't get the funding for a first run of stickers
Gubser
This is a new photo of an old photo of a dump truck I lettered in 1992. I think I took this picture in 2009. Darin and I have been waving hi for years and we caught up at Clearwood Store so I wiped the dust off the door and this is the result after 17 years of daily use.
